Welcome to Vivify Me! My name is Anne and I am a breast cancer survivor! When I was diagnosed in January 2020, I felt the weight of the world come down on me. There were so many questions and so many uncertainties. I was fortunate that my yearly mammogram made for an early diagnosis, but I was still scared. I researched everything about breast cancer down to what my cells looked like under a microscope! (I am a biology professor and love everything science!) I'm prepared, right?

 

Cue the whirlwind of doctors' office visits; the surgical oncologist who would preform a partial mastectomy, the plastic surgeon who would make my chest young again, the radiology oncologist who would be zapping any cancer cells left, and the medical oncologist who would starve my estrogen-loving cancer cells with medication. I had all the support I needed from the best healthcare providers and hospitals, great health insurance, knowledge about my disease, and unwavering love from my family and friends.

However, I did not realize anything was missing until my daughter surprised me with what she called a "Booby Basket". She had researched everything I did not; special post-surgical bras, a wedge pillow to sleep upright, and special body cream for the sunburn-like rash after radiation treatments. I was amazed at how many unique products were out there, but I was dismayed that even with the all my preparations, I was still unprepared.

Thus, Vivify Me emerged! I want every person who is fighting for their lives to feel comfortable and supported so that you can take a deep breathe and focus on recovery. Let us help prepare you for the unpreparable.
